Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands located in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of the northern Malaysian state of Kedah. Although known as a favoured holiday spot, it has managed to remain largely untouched by mass tourism.
Being a duty-free island has its obvious perks, but it is the natural beauty of the island that draws visitors back. In 2007, UNESCO granted the island World Geopark status due to its rich geological heritage, and this has greatly added to the appeal of the islands.
Baby Tonga’s home base is at Telaga Harbour Marina and your voyage truly begins here. Sailing around Langkawi allows you to enjoy a unique view of its lush green – mostly uninhabited – islands. Choose to indulge in a day trip, or be adventurous and take a few days to explore.
The best time to visit is from November to March. The monsoon season begins in April and runs through to October.
